Activities:

Patients who are interned in the Nazareth center usually must have already pass two important steps in the recovery process:
1) The Counseling step – when the patient is helped by professionals to increase his motivation and to have the strength to begin the recovery process; usually, for the patients who are living in Sibiu this action is done by the Phoenix Ambulatory Center.
2) The Detoxification step – often people have severe chemical dependency which cannot allow an adequate psychological treatment; that’s why this kind of patients must do previously a detoxify treatment in special medical centers and after that they can be interned in the Nazareth Settlement Center.
The recovery process continue in the Nazareth Settlement with:

3) Recovery & Psychosocial Rehabilitation – in a couple of months, the client, learn and achieves the skills to survive to the alcohol or drugs temptations, learns how to maintain a long and healthy sober life and to prevent relapses.

After the patients finished the recovery process and they are now able to start a new way of life, optionally, they continue their rehabilitation seeking help or support to the Phoenix Ambulatory Treatment Center., doing the last step so called: aftercare treatment.
4) Aftercare treatment – an important role is assigned to the AA or NA groups or to the Counseling services from ambulatory treatment centers (only in Sibiu, for the moment) where the entire patient’s family can be assisted and counseled how to decrease the risks of relapse and how to maintain healthy and loving relationships between family members.

Main therapy goals:

1. Physically and mentally rehabilitation of the patients;
2. Good understanding of the addiction mechanism;
3. Growing-up their emotionally side of their personality;
4. Increasing patient’s tolerance versus any kind of frustration;
5. Learning and achieving new and strong skills to pass potential crisis;
6. A better insight capacity of patients;
7. Improving their self trust and their relationship with other members of the family;
8. Choosing a new healthy life-style, a good motivation to stay sober.

Therapeutically instruments:

- Medical, psychological, spiritual and social assistance carry out by doctor Holger Lux, psychologist Vasile Soaita, priest Nicolaie Stanca, ergo-therapist Petre Diaconescu,
- Group psychotherapy (5 meetings/ week)
- Individual psychotherapy (every time it is needed)
- Ergo therapy - 4 or 5 hours / on a working day, through this activity it is stimulated self initiative of the patients, exercising their responsibility, increasing their work capacity and stress resistance. The ergo-therapy it realized in the gardening, azotes, kitchen and house keeping.

All the recovery process it is done according the principles of a therapeutically community, where every patient is assuming progressively a bigger responsibility for himself, for the things that he does and for the entire therapy group. We consider that in a therapeutically community, the dynamic of the group is the most important therapeutically factor.

Nazareth Center internment conditions:
- the potential patient must accept his illness;
- no severe physically or mentally illness or disease (personality disorders, psychosis, mental disabilities);
- the potential client must support a part or the whole therapeutically costs during his internment in the Nazareth Settlement.

The Nazareth Center is ruled by the humanitarian organization Blue Cross Romania; until now it is the first Romanian recovery Center. for alcohol and other drugs men addicts.
The mission of this stationary recovery Center. is to help people; to accept the addict one as he is himself, to help him lifting his mind and spirit and then replacing him back to the society.

Services:
The Nazareth Center offer to the assisted ones a recovery programme which may take between 2 and 6 months; the recovery model is very similar with west European countries recovery models used in their addicts assistance clinics.

The Nazareth Center is currently working in Sura Mica commune, 12 km distance from Sibiu, in the middle of an amazing landscape with a beautiful wild nature.

- the center is functioning in an old German evangelic parish house
- the Center. has a 22 patients capacity.
